A considerable haul came in from Japan and Germany today. There were 15 titles in all, nine of which were customer requests. Of those nine, four were debuts from Japan: Franco Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet,” Woody Allen’s “Bullets Over Broadway,” Yasujiro Ozu’s “Late Spring,” and Nobuhiko Ohbayashi’s “The Deserted City.” The remaining requests were (also from Japan) Stephen Daldry’s “The Hours,” Brian De Palma’s “Casualties of War,” Peter Greenaway’s “The Draughtsman’s Contract,” and Gus Van Sant’s “Drugstore Cowboy,” as well as the German Blu-ray of Paul Schrader’s “Blue Collar.” The remaining arrivals were restocks of David Lynch’s “The Straight Story,” John Carpenter’s “Memoirs of an Invisible Man,” and Monte Hellman’s “Cockfighter” from Japan plus Mike Leigh’s “Happy-Go-Lucky,” Joe Dante’s “Small Soldiers,” and “Serial Mom” by John Waters from Germany.
