An exciting array of titles arrived from Britain today, headlined by the debut of Satyajit Ray’s “The Hero.” This is the second Ray film to hit 4xblu’s shelves, joining Ray’s “The Holy Man.” Of the five movies in Artificial Eye’s Satyajit Ray box set, “The Hero” and “The Holy Man” are the only ones that haven’t been released by Criterion in the U.S., so those who already have the Criterions can pick up these standalone releases and not get stuck with extras of the other three.
Also in tow were a quartet of restocks, including a pair by Mike Leigh (“Secrets & Lies” and the remastered version of “High Hopes”) and two from Cahiers critics-turned-filmmakers Claude Chabrol (“La Ceremonie”) and Francois Truffaut (“Shoot the Pianist”).
