Today’s arrivals consist of one restock, Peter Greenaway’s “A Zed & Two Noughts” and one new addition to the shop’s inventory, Prince’s “Sign ‘O’ The Times.”
The passing away of an iconic performer can be a tricky thing for those (such as myself) who handle the business end of show business. On the one hand you certainly don’t want to seem like an opportunist who’s seeking to profit from tragedy, but on the other the fact is that, for many fans, buying the work of a beloved artist can be part of the grieving process — a way of, literally, paying tribute to their beloved star.
In this specific instance, when I learned of Prince’s death it didn’t even occur to me to explore the Blu-ray availability of his films. It wasn’t until the following day when a customer who’s a big Prince fan messaged me that the subject came up. He’d done the research and then asked if I would feel okay with ordering “Sign ‘O’ The Times.” My attitude was that, if he’d asked me a month before Prince’s death to order it I would’ve, so why not now? And so, here it is.
