The time has come to unveil today’s online store additions. Among the titles to arrive at 4xblu.com’s virtual shelves are Douglas Sirk’s “Captain Lightfoot,” Neil Jordan’s “Mona Lisa,” and Robert Altman’s “The Gingerbread Man.”

“The Gingerbread Man” was the seventh story by lawyer-turned-novelist John Grisham to be adapted into a feature film. It features (as one would expect from Altman, a director beloved by actors) a stellar cast that’s led by Kenneth Branagh — who does a non-cringe inducing suburban Atlanta accent — and includes Embeth Davidtz, Robert Downey, Jr., Robert Duvall, and Daryl Hannah. The film was shot by Gu Changwei, best known as the cinematographer of Zhang Yimou’s “Ju Dou” and “Red Sorghum,” as well Chen Kaige’s “Farewell, My Concubine,” which Altman reportedly saw and led him to believe Gu would be ideal for achieving a Southern Gothic look along the lines of “Night of the Hunter.”
