For the latest round of online store additions, the trio of titles chosen was Peter Greenaway’s “A Zed & Two Noughts,” Artificial Eye’s “The Mizoguchi Collection,” and a Korean release of Hong Sang-soo’s “In Another Country” and “Nobody’s Daughter Haewon.” When asked to recommend a good place to start with Hong’s pictures, I typically suggest this set since 1.) “The Day He Arrives” (which would be my ideal starting point) is no longer available from the etailers where I get Korean discs and 2.) I feel like, between them, the pictures in the set give newcomers a good sense of the motifs and formal characteristics that frequently appear in the director’s most recent work.
