Today’s additions to the 4xblu online store consist of Brian De Palma’s “Sisters,” Douglas Sirk’s “Captain Lightfoot,” and Roman Polanski’s “The Ghost” — or, as it’s known in the United States, “The Ghost Writer.” The film’s title isn’t the only difference between the U.S. and U.K. editions, however… in order to secure a more box office-friendly PG-13 rating, the U.S. version (both theatrically and on the domestic Blu-ray release) contains multiple instances of dubbing over “the C word,” whereas the British Blu-ray has no such alterations. As someone who saw the film theatrically with no prior knowledge of the overdubs, I can say they were so blatant that I couldn’t help laughing out loud when they came up in the movie (much to the chagrin of my fellow moviegoers, I’m sure).
