No packages again today, so let’s just jump into the latest additions to the 4xblu online store, shall we? Today’s offerings consist of Samuel Fuller’s “White Dog,” Abel Ferrara’s “China Girl,” and Shochiku’s Blu-ray of Yasujiro Ozu’s “Late Autumn” from Japan, a title the shop also carries in another version, BFI’s British release. The reason for this is that both have their own relative merits: the former is Region A compatible and sourced from a newer 4k master (with only an unsubbed trailer as an extra), whereas the latter is Region B locked and comes from an older master, but includes a standard definition version of the 1934 Ozu silent “A Mother Should Be Loved.” Oh, there is one other thing: the Shochiku sells for $39, while the BFI is priced at $15.75.
