An exciting haul of titles from France and Japan arrived at Foreign Exchange today. The headliners were a trio of new additions: Japanese Blu-rays of Woody Allen’s “Everyone Says I Love You” and “Small Time Crooks,” as well as “Lumiere!” a French set containing 114 films by Auguste and Louis Lumiere, whose cinematographe essentially invented the motion picture as we know it. While the set’s copious extras are not English friendly, the opportunity to see these films beautifully restored is (at least in this writer’s opinion) well worth the collection’s price.
