The latest round of additions to 4xblu’s online shop consist of the following trio of titles: Carlotta’s French edition of Brian De Palma’s “Body Double,” Dario Argento’s “Four Flies on Grey Velvet” (whose review by the stellar Mondo Digital is a must-read for anyone considering this release), and Spike Lee’s “Clockers,” which comes with the following disclaimer on its back cover:
As off-putting as that caveat may seem, upon being shown the disc one of the shop’s regulars declared (and I’m paraphrasing here), “Yes, that’s because it was shot on ______*; that’s precisely how it’s supposed to look. I know — I was actually supposed to work on that movie at one point.”
* = the blank represents the actual film stock’s product number, which this customer recalled off the top of his head and then, pulling it up on his phone, showed me that he’d been right. Incredible.
