The shop received a whopping haul from around the globe today, a total of 16 titles in all. Among the arrivals were: from Hong Kong, customer requests of John Woo’s “A Better Tomorrow” and Chen Kaige’s “The Promise,” plus restocks of Johnnie To’s “Office” and two by Wong Kar-wai, “As Tears Go By” and “Days of Being Wild.” Also turning up were a quartet of restocks from Arrow Video: David Cronenberg’s “Shivers,” Brian De Palma’s “Sisters,” Joe Dante’s “The ‘Burbs,” and Jiri Menzel’s “Closely Observed Trains.” Today’s bundle concludes with a pair from Italy: Carl Reiner’s “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” and Martin Scorsese’s “The Age of Innocence,” plus a quintet from Germany: Dario Argento’s “Four Flies on Grey Velvet,” Jane Campion’s “An Angel at my Table,” Robert Siodmak’s “Cobra Woman,” Mike Leigh’s “Happy-Go-Lucky,” and “O. Henry’s Full House,” an anthology film with segments directed by Howard Hawks, Jean Negulesco, and three Henries: Hathaway, King, and Koster.
