New Additions: 8/6/16

If there’s a unifying theme that ties together the four latest additions to the 4xblu online store, it’s the nation of France. Obviously, director Claude Chabrol (whose “La Ceremonie” hits the shop’s virtual shelves today) was French. The director of “Broken Flowers,” Jim Jarmusch, moved to Paris during his senior year of college, where he regularly attended screenings at the Cinemateque Francaise; French filmgoers’ love of Korean director Hong Sang-soo, whose contribution to today’s offerings is “On the Occasion of Remembering the Turning Gate,” calls to mind their (in)famous worship of Jerry Lewis; lastly, there’s Orson Welles’s “Othello,” which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1952. Vive la France!
