A nice haul of packages came into the shop today from France and the UK that consisted of five new additions to the shop’s inventory and seven restocks.

Among the new additions are a pair of titles from directors that are already represented in the shop’s inventory: Austria’s Michael Haneke and Poland’s Andrzej Wajda. The latest Haneke to grace 4xblu’s shelves is “Funny Games” (U.S.), the director’s remake of his own “Funny Games,” which the shop normally carries but is currently awaiting reorder. Wajda’s new add is “Katyn,” a World War II epic that will soon be joined by the director’s “Danton,” which is currently en route from France.

Today’s directorial debuts are Romania’s Cristian Mungiu, whose “Beyond the Hills” came in today, and “Bound” by the Wachowskis. Last but certainly not least among today’s new adds is Rowland V. Lee’s “Son of Frankenstein,” the first arrival from a slate of Universal Monsters titles released by France’s Elephant Films.

Today’s restocks included Artificial Eye’s Kenji Mizoguchi box set, a pair of Arrow restocks (David Cronenberg’s “Rabid” and Neil Jordan’s “Mona Lisa”), more Haneke (“Cache,” perhaps the director’s most critically acclaimed work), French masters Robert Bresson (“Mouchette”) and Jean-Luc Godard (“Sympathy for the Devil / One + One”), and Orson Welles “Macbeth.” Quite a haul, indeed….
